Do you own a farm in the Greens Creek area of Victoria? Then you could be eligible for additional disaster assistance, thanks to a series of new grants being made available by the Victorian government.
This assistance should help your business recover from the severe weather events that devastated this state in December 2011 and February, March and June 2012.
If you combine it with a comprehensive farm insurance policy, you can also make sure your assets are protected if and when other severe weather events strike.
On December 24, Commonwealth Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and Victorian Deputy Premier Peter Ryan announced that Category C Clean-up and Restoration Grants would be available to farmers in north and north-east Stawell.
Should you be deemed eligible, you may receive up to $10,000 through this program.
Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said he was pleased the Commonwealth government has opted to include farmers from the Greens Creek area in the Category C Clean-up and Restoration Grants program.
"Extending these grants to the Greens Creek community shows how the new Commonwealth government and Victorian Coalition government are working closely together for the benefit of regional communities impacted by natural disaster," explained Mr Broad.
Mr Ryan went onto explain that farmers in this area were originally ineligible for the program due to an "anomaly", which meant their postcodes fell outside of the eligible area for disaster assistance - despite the fact that many were badly affected by severe weather events in the past three years.
The deadline for claims has been extended to March 2014, so there's still time to apply if you need to!
