4 apps to boost productivity on your farm

2 April 2014

Here are four apps that have been designed in recent years to help Australia's time-poor farmers get the most out of their days.

Agro Lite

A paperless way to store vital information about your clients and suppliers, Agro Lite is a must-have for tech-savvy farmers. You can send emails and reports to stakeholders using this app, saving you time and money.

Farm Manager

This nifty app was designed by farmers, for farmers, according to developer Stringybark Software Pty Ltd. It allows you to perform a wide range of tasks, such as:

- record the history of your crops

- keep track of all maintenance that's been performed on your machinery

- make a note of all chemical and fertiliser used

- keep track of your livestock (such as the year they were born, what their ear tag numbers are, etc.)

Weather Underground

This app will provide you with up-to-date forecasts, so you know when severe weather events could be on their way. This will give you time to put your risk management strategy into action, which could prevent you having to make a claim on your farm insurance.

What makes Weather Underground unique is that all data featured on the app is collected by other users in your neighbourhood. That means you'll be getting local information - just like you'd get from Elders Insurance!

iCattleMgr

If you own livestock, iCattleMgr could have a major impact on the way you operate your farm. It allows you to keep tabs on your livestock - their health, wellbeing and status, as well as any other information you care to include!

You can also take photos of your livestock using this app to help you identify them when you're out and about. All the information you store on iCattleMgr can be shared with others via social media platforms or exported to a PDF, ready to be printed.
